Give your kids a head start and solid foundation for their tennis career by sending them to one of our structured coaching courses.  Courses are taken by qualified tennis coaches using the latest teaching methods and equipment to assist your kids to have fun while improving their tennis skills.

Junior members are the future of our club and currently  60% of our members are under 18yrs.

Tennis is a fantastic sport for the U10s and within the last 10 years there has been a revolutionary change in the coaching methods and equipment for juniors.

Our club has adopted the 'Play&Stay' approach to coaching that is recommended by Tennis Ireland and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

We use mini-nets, slower balls and smaller rackets so that even 5 & 6 yr olds can learn the basic strokes and play matches against each other.   There is a gradual progressions through Red ball (U8s and mini-court),   Orange ball (8/9yrs and midi court)  Green ball (9/10yrs and full court) until at age 11 they are ready to play with normal tennis balls on the full-size court.

Club junior tournaments

We arrange occasional round-robin tournaments for club juniors which introduces them to competitive tennis, and where their parents can spectate and see how their children are progressing.

Working with the other 4 tennis clubs in the North Down and Ards we are organising regular tournaments for each of the age groups and open to players of all abilities, so all players can get competitive experience.

Junior coaching

It is important that young players receive proper coaching if they are to achieve their full tennis potential.  Coaching is organised by the Club's Tennis Director and Coach, Alistair Dunn who is qualified Level 1 Tennis Ireland Coach and also has a PTR qualification.  We have several assistant coaches within the Club.  Currently we have engaged Paul Watt of the AGP Tennis Academy to provide regular Junior coaching courses on Monday evenings.

Junior Coaching classes are currently organised in  8  week courses at a cost of £40 for 8 x 1hr sessions (or £48 for non-members)   There are separate classes for U-10s and 10+ age groups.

Players will be allocated to the appropriate group by the Coach and will graduate to a higher group as they progress with their tennis skills.
